Garmin is sending out a new software update for several of its popular smartwatches. The beta version 28.02 is now available for owners of the Fenix 7, Quatix 7, Epix 2, Enduro 2, and Marq Gen 2 lines.
This latest release focuses on fixing a series of software bugs and improving overall system reliability rather than adding major new features.
Fixes for Golfers and Outdoor Athletes

Several fixes in this update directly target sports and outdoor tracking. Golfers will notice that new clubs added through the Garmin Golf mobile app now correctly sync and appear on the watch’s club list. The update also solves a bug that prevented HRM 200 and HRM 600 heart rate monitors from working during golf sessions, along with a fix for rangefinders showing outdated information.
For runners and hikers, Garmin corrected a problem where choosing an indoor activity would accidentally turn off the GPS settings for future outdoor workouts.
Map and Navigation Improvements
Map downloads and route planning should run much smoother with this version. The patch fixes stability crashes that happened while downloading maps inside the Map Manager app. It also resolves an error during device verification when downloading TopoActive maps, and stops navigation calculations from randomly failing.
Smoother Daily Use and Widgets
Daily activity tracking and smart features also got a tune-up. The Garmin Coach widget now displays training data consistently without going blank, and the main calendar widget loads noticeably faster than before.
How to Get the Update
If your watch is enrolled in the Garmin Beta Program, you can download the software directly on your wrist.
Simply open the Main Menu, navigate to Settings, select System, tap Software Update, and choose Check For Updates.
