The highly anticipated Garmin Fenix 8 Pro appears to be launching much sooner than previously thought. The Fenix 8 Pro has been spotted on Garmin’s website, revealing key details like new display technology and satellite connectivity. This new model will follow the Fenix 8 and Fenix E, which were released just over a year ago in August 2024.
Leaks Reveal MicroLED and AMOLED Display Options
Garmin’s website recently revealed multiple references to the upcoming Fenix 8 Pro, confirming key features of the new smartwatch. Redditors discovered the Fenix 8 Pro while navigating Garmin’s Coverage Map and hovering over various product drop-down menus. Two product listings, with IDs 1703902 and 1723221, were found. While neither listing is currently viewable by the public, the images provide key details.
The new images confirm that the Fenix 8 Pro will be available with a microLED display, which Garmin describes as the ‘brightest smartwatch ever built’. This feature follows a contract Garmin signed with Vuzix for microLED display supply last year. A separate listing also shows a non-microLED variant that will include SOS connectivity.
Satellite Connectivity and Pricing Revealed
The Fenix 8 Pro’s SOS connectivity will likely operate through a new LTE modem and Garmin’s inReach service. This will allow users to send emergency messages from their watch. While the specifics of the non-microLED variant are not yet known, it’s presumed to have an AMOLED display.
According to Redditor u/flodschi22, the inReach service will cost €9.99 per month. The same user also claims that Garmin will launch the Fenix 8 Pro tomorrow, on September 3. These discoveries suggest the new Garmin Fenix 8 Pro will provide new and improved features for serious athletes and outdoor enthusiasts.
