Garmin Fenix 8 Pro Receives Its Firt Stable Update 18.41: What’s New?

Garmin has released its first stable software update, version 18.41, for the Fenix 8 Pro smartwatches. This update aims to fix several bugs and improve the overall user experience.

This release primarily focuses on enhancing stability and addressing various issues reported by users, particularly those related to the watch’s built-in applications and features. The update is a significant step toward refining the Fenix 8 Pro’s performance, ensuring a smoother and more reliable experience for owners.

Key Fixes and Improvements

The new software update brings a host of fixes that address some of the most pressing issues. One notable fix is for “jumpy” elevation readings at higher altitudes, which is crucial for hikers and mountaineers who rely on accurate data. The update also improves the messaging experience with several enhancements to the Messenger app. You can now automatically decline incoming Messenger calls, and the app’s scrolling and layout have been refined for better readability.

Furthermore, Garmin has resolved a number of specific bugs, including one where the “GPS is Ready” banner would appear unexpectedly after using NTN (Non-Terrestrial Networks). It also fixes issues with Messenger call history and notifications, ensuring a more consistent and reliable communication experience. Other fixes include resolving a possible crash when starting a Messenger call and correcting the weather app’s “disconnected” status when the watch is actively connected via Bluetooth.

How to Get the Update

Garmin typically rolls out software updates automatically to devices connected to the Garmin Connect app. For most users, the update will download in the background when the watch is paired with their phone.

If you want to check for the update manually, you can do so directly on your Fenix 8 Pro. Simply navigate to Main Menu > Settings > System > Software Update and select “Check for Updates.” The watch will connect via Wi-Fi or Bluetooth to your phone to search for and download the new software. Once the download is complete, you will be prompted to install it. Alternatively, you can connect your watch to a computer and use the Garmin Express desktop application, which will automatically check for and install available updates
