Garmin is pushing out beta software version 10.36 for several models in its Instinct smartwatch lineup, including the Instinct 3 AMOLED, Instinct 3 Solar, and Instinct E. This update focuses on resolving several key bugs to improve the overall reliability and performance of these devices.
What’s New in the Update
This new software release addresses a number of technical glitches that users may have encountered. For all Instinct 3 and Instinct E smartwatches, the update fixes a potential issue with the Broadcast HR hotkey, ensuring that users can reliably access this function without any problems.
For owners of the Instinct 3 Solar and AMOLED models, a specific bug has been squashed where the strobe feature would remain on after exiting an activity. This fix should prevent unnecessary battery drain and improve the device’s behavior post-workout. Additionally, the update resolves a problem with Connect IQ (CIQ) data fields, which were previously stopping after a user accessed a CIQ glance on the Instinct 3 Solar and E models. A minor but helpful fix for these same devices is that the weather glance will now correctly display temperatures of 100 degrees or higher.
Finally, for Instinct 3 Solar users, the update includes a crucial fix for a potential crash that could occur when attempting to pair an RD pod, ensuring a more stable connection for runners and cyclists.
How to Get the Update Now
If you’re an Instinct user and want to install this beta software, you don’t have to wait for an automatic rollout. You can manually trigger the update on your device. Simply navigate to the Main menu, select Settings, go to System, and then choose Software Update. From there, you can select Check For Updates to download and install version 10.36.
