Garmin Releases Major Stable Update 13.24 for Instinct 3 Series: What’s New?

Garmin has officially launched Software Version 13.24, a comprehensive stable update targeting its latest rugged lineup, including the Instinct 3 Solar, Instinct 3 AMOLED, Instinct E, and the Instinct Crossover AMOLED. This rollout focuses on refining the user experience through a mix of niche activity tracking, smarter alarm features, and essential bug fixes across the entire series.

Universal Enhancements for the Instinct Family

The bulk of this update applies to all models within the Instinct 3 and Instinct E series. Fitness enthusiasts will notice the addition of a dedicated Treadmill Walk profile and the ability to manually save distances during Indoor Row sessions.

On the lifestyle side, Garmin has integrated Smart Wake alarm settings to help users wake up during lighter sleep cycles, along with deeper customization options for the Morning Report. For those venturing off-grid, the update improves the inReach experience, allowing users to view data even when a live connection is unavailable and resolving several display and lag issues associated with inReach messaging.

Model-Specific Upgrades and Performance Tweaks

Garmin has tailored certain features to specific hardware capabilities within the range:

  • Instinct 3 Solar & AMOLED: These models (along with the Crossover) now support Pack Weight tracking for Stair Stepper and Floor Climb activities—a big win for rucking enthusiasts. They also see significant “under the hood” improvements to Training Readiness metrics.

  • Instinct Crossover AMOLED: As the hybrid standout, the Crossover receives exclusive new watch face designs, corrected workout animations, and a fix for battery life estimation errors.

  • AMOLED Variants: Both the Instinct 3 AMOLED and Crossover benefit from refined notification icons and corrected Connect IQ (CIQ) app displays.

Key Bug Fixes and Stability Improvements

A major portion of version 13.24 is dedicated to polishing existing features. Swimmers will find that SWOLF scores, rest times, and calorie counts are now more accurate. Additionally, Garmin addressed a frustrating bug where devices would accidentally re-enter Sleep Mode after being manually toggled off. System stability has also been bolstered, specifically fixing a potential crash that occurred when broadcasting heart rate data or disconnecting from a computer on Solar and “E” models.

How to Install Version 13.24

While Garmin typically rolls these updates out in phases, you can skip the wait by manually triggering the download on your watch. To update your device, navigate to:

Main Menu > Settings > System > Software Update > Check For Updates.
