Garmin releases new beta software update 15.32 for Fenix 8, Tactix 8, and Enduro 3 models

Garmin is introducing a new beta software update, version 15.32, for a select range of its advanced smartwatches. This update targets users of the popular Fenix 8, Fenix E, Enduro 3, and Tactix 8 models, bringing crucial fixes and improvements designed to enhance device performance and reliability.

Note: The Beta software available for the Fenix 8 series will have the ECG feature and Dive features disabled.

Addressing Sensor Data Integrity for Enhanced Accuracy

One of the key fixes introduced in this beta release directly addresses a crucial functionality for Tactix 8 users: the accurate transmission of ABI (Advanced Biometric Interface) sensor data. Previously, some users of the Tactix 8 may have experienced issues where these vital sensors were not correctly sending data, potentially impacting the accuracy of critical metrics such as heart rate, oxygen saturation, or other biometric readings essential for training, health monitoring, and tactical operations. This patch aims to rectify these inconsistencies, ensuring that the Tactix 8 provides reliable and precise data, which is paramount for users who depend on these devices for mission-critical information or rigorous performance tracking.

Enhancing Stability: Preventing Crashes in CIQ Applications

Beyond sensor data, Garmin’s beta update also tackles a potential stability issue that could affect users across all the targeted smartwatch models. The changelog specifically mentions a fix for a “Potential Crash when Dismissing an Action Menu in a CIQ App.” Connect IQ (CIQ) is Garmin’s platform for third-party applications, widgets, and watch faces, allowing users to extend the functionality of their devices. A crash within a CIQ app, particularly when attempting to dismiss an action menu, can be disruptive and frustrating. This update aims to bolster the overall stability of the CIQ ecosystem, ensuring a smoother and more reliable experience when interacting with third-party content, ultimately enhancing user satisfaction and the seamless operation of their smartwatches.

How to Access the Update

For users eager to install these enhancements, Garmin has made the update readily accessible directly on your device. To initiate the download and installation process, navigate through the smartwatch’s main menu. From there, select “Settings,” then “System,” and finally, “Software Update.” Within the software update menu, choose “Check For Updates” to prompt your device to find and begin downloading version 15.32.
