Garmin is releasing a significant beta software update, version 17.13, for a range of its high-performance smartwatches. This update targets the Fenix 8, Fenix E, Enduro 3, and Tactix 8 series, introducing a range of improvements and critical bug fixes aimed at enhancing user experience and device stability.
Note: the Beta software available for the Fenix 8 series will have the ECG feature and Dive features disabled.
Key Enhancements and Bug Fixes
The new 17.13 beta introduces several notable changes. One of the more convenient additions is the ability to tap directly into the Evening Report Workouts Page, streamlining access to your fitness summaries. Users will also be pleased to find a fix for the backlight not activating when a timer completes, ensuring better visibility in critical moments.
Addressing Notification and Display Issues
Garmin has focused on refining the notification experience and display accuracy. The update resolves the issue of duplicated messages appearing in the Notification Center, providing a cleaner and more reliable alert system. Display-related fixes include correcting the incorrect color when pinning an activity and changing its color, and ensuring the MIP Watch Face Edit Screen updates properly when changing the background color.
Improving Core Functionality and Stability
Beyond cosmetic and notification improvements, this update tackles core functional issues. It addresses a bug in the initial setup GPS for setting time confirmation page and resolves various possible crashes within the Notification Center, leading to a more stable user interface. Furthermore, smart notification time stamps have been corrected, and a persistent issue with touch lock not fully stopping touch on the watch face has been resolved. The update also rectifies the frustrating problem of the watch face displaying the wrong date. Finally, users will find that the personal records screens’ time-outs have been increased, allowing more time to review achievements.
How to Get the Update
For users eager to experience these improvements, the 17.13 beta update can be downloaded manually directly from your device. Simply navigate to Main Menu > Settings > System > Software Update > Check For Updates to initiate the download and installation process.
