Garmin is rolling out a new beta software update, version 25.02, for a range of its Forerunner smartwatches. This update is designed to improve the performance and reliability of the devices, bringing a number of fixes and enhancements to the Forerunner 965, 955, 265, 255, and 165 models.
What’s Included in the Update
The changelog for version 25.02 highlights several key areas of improvement. A notable fix addresses a bug where the “Primary Race” glance on the watch face would sometimes incorrectly display a secondary race instead of the main one. This ensures that your most important race data is always front and center.
Another significant improvement comes for those following Garmin’s Run Coach plans. The update resolves an issue where Strength workouts were not being marked as complete, preventing users from properly tracking their progress within the plan.
Enhanced Performance and Reliability
Beyond fixing specific bugs, the update also focuses on general performance. Users who have experienced inaccurate data during activities will benefit from a fix that improves the accuracy of wrist-based heart rate, specifically in cases where readings appeared unusually high. This is crucial for athletes who rely on this metric for training insights.
Furthermore, the update addresses a bug with the Power Save Timeout setting in multisport profiles, ensuring that your custom power-saving preferences are respected during activities. These changes, along with various other bug fixes and general improvements, work together to provide a more stable and reliable experience for all Forerunner users.
How to Get the Update
If you’re a Forerunner user with one of the compatible models, you can manually download the update directly to your watch. To do so, simply go to your device’s Main menu, select Settings, then System, and finally, choose Software Update. From there, you can select Check For Updates to initiate the download and installation.
