Garmin releases new stable update 22.06 for Fenix 7, Epix 2, Tactix 7, and Marq Gen 2 models

Garmin is deploying a significant stable software update, version 22.06, to its array of high-end smartwatches. This update targets the Fenix 7 Series, Epix 2, Enduro 2, Quatix 7, Tactix 7, and Marq Gen 2 models, introducing a range of improvements and critical bug fixes aimed at enhancing user experience and device reliability. Users can anticipate a more refined and robust performance across various activities and daily use.

Key Additions and Feature Optimizations

Among the new functionalities, the update introduces Reps and Set time data fields specifically for HIIT activities, providing more comprehensive tracking for high-intensity interval training. Beyond new features, Garmin has also focused on optimizing existing ones. For instance, the swim activity rest screen has been improved, likely offering clearer data presentation or better usability during breaks. Additionally, the update addresses an issue where un-editable Garmin Coach workouts previously allowed an edit option, ensuring the integrity of these pre-set training plans.

Critical Bug Fixes for Enhanced Stability

A substantial portion of this update is dedicated to resolving various bugs that have impacted device performance. Users will find fixes for issues such as the activity map track log color setting, ensuring accurate visual representation of routes. A significant fix addresses activity power modes not correctly altering satellite modes, which is crucial for accurate GPS tracking and battery management. Connectivity issues have also been tackled, including a fix for crashes when connecting to a GoPro via CIQ. Furthermore, several potential crash scenarios have been addressed, such as those occurring in the sleep coach widget and on the open connection info page, contributing to overall system stability.

Addressing Display and Data Inconsistencies

Garmin has also focused on rectifying display and data accuracy issues. The update resolves dew point inconsistencies between Fahrenheit and Celsius, ensuring accurate environmental readings regardless of the chosen unit. For e-bike users, the E-bike battery and range activity field positioning has been fixed, improving data visibility. Display glitches like HRV glance cutting off units in large text mode and the music volume page not updating have been corrected. A particularly important fix prevents the watch face from blanking when using heart rate data fields in low power mode, maintaining essential information accessibility. Finally, issues related to navigation, such as selecting back to start and end hunt on the hunting activity map, and timer functionality, like the timer not changing to running timer when restart is enabled, have been resolved.

How to Update Your Garmin Smartwatch

Users can easily obtain the new software version 22.06 directly on their device. To initiate the update, navigate through the main menu: Main menu > Settings > System > Software Update > Check For Updates. It’s recommended to update your device to benefit from these latest improvements and ensure optimal performance.
