Garmin releases new stable update 21.19 for Fenix 7, Epix, Tactix 7, and Marq Gen 2

Garmin is introducing a significant stable software update, version 21.19, for a wide range of its top-tier smartwatches. This update targets the popular Fenix 7 series, Epix, Epix Pro, Enduro 2, Tactix 7, Quatix 7, and Marq Gen 2 devices, bringing a host of new features, crucial bug fixes, and general performance improvements to enhance the user experience.

Expanded Health and Wellness Tracking

A notable addition in this update is the integration of “Breathing Variations Support.” This new capability enriches the health monitoring suite, providing users with more detailed insights into their respiratory patterns. Such data can be invaluable for understanding stress levels, improving mindfulness practices, and optimizing overall well-being. Furthermore, the update includes unlock icons on the sensor details page, improving clarity and usability when managing connected sensors.

Addressing Persistent Bug Fixes

Garmin has diligently addressed several persistent issues that users have reported. A common frustration, audio prompts reverting to English after a power cycle, has been resolved, ensuring chosen language settings persist. Users who experienced their Body Battery and stress data disappearing from Glance history will be pleased to find this bug rectified, allowing for consistent historical tracking. Issues with CIQ watch face lag during screen transitions and custom text responses resetting to default have also been patched, leading to a smoother and more personalized device interaction.

Enhancements for Activity and Sport Tracking

Athletes and outdoor enthusiasts will benefit from several sport-specific improvements. The update fixes an issue where the device automatically reentered sleep mode when manually ended, preventing interruptions during active periods. Naps started without a timer can now be properly ended and tracked. Golfers will see fixes for the GameOn app not pairing and the Golf activity not showing yardage to hazards in tournament mode, ensuring accurate and reliable performance on the course. Furthermore, improvements have been made to the golf club sensor menu, streamlining the setup and use of these accessories.

Crucial Stability and Accuracy Improvements

This release also focuses on bolstering the overall stability and accuracy of the smartwatches. Incident detection will no longer activate during unsupported activity types, reducing false alarms. Nautical display units on activity summaries have been corrected, ensuring accurate maritime data. Several potential crash scenarios have been addressed, including those within the Garmin Coach widget and when moving golf pin positions. Issues with short distances during run and walk activities, and strength activity weight being incorrectly changed on the rep edit and weight screen, have been resolved, guaranteeing more precise activity tracking. A specific fix for a Taiwan coordinate issue and a translation problem on the sleep watch face further highlight Garmin’s commitment to global accuracy and localization.

Miscellaneous Fixes and General Refinements

Beyond the major fixes and new features, version 21.19 includes a range of miscellaneous improvements and refinements. This encompasses “Improvements to secure sensor pairing menus,” making the connection process more robust. “Miscellaneous fixes for Live Activity” suggest a more stable and reliable experience when sharing real-time activity data. Finally, the update includes an “Updated Running Track Database” and “Updated Translations,” alongside various other bug fixes and general performance enhancements, all contributing to a more polished and reliable user experience across the supported Garmin smartwatch range.
