Garmin rolls out beta update 17.30 for Fenix 8, Tactix 8, and Enduro 3: What’s New?

Garmin has started the public rollout of a new beta software update, version 17.30, for its lineup of high-end smartwatches. This update targets key stability and performance issues to enhance the user experience for owners of its Fenix 8, Enduro 3, and Tactix 8 models. The software is part of Garmin’s ongoing commitment to refining its devices through a public beta program, gathering user feedback to improve the final version.

Critical Fixes for Connectivity and Sensor Accuracy

This new software version addresses a few significant bugs that have been reported by users. A notable fix targets the inReach remote feature, which previously experienced a glitch where the connection would not restore automatically after being lost. The update ensures that the remote link is more resilient and reliable.

Additionally, the update resolves a data inconsistency bug for high-altitude activities. It corrects an issue where altitude readings would show varying data, providing more accurate and consistent information for mountaineers, hikers, and other outdoor enthusiasts. The software also tackles a notification issue, ensuring that smart notifications pop up correctly after a device update. For divers, a potential shutdown that could occur when editing dive activity data fields has been resolved, enhancing the stability of the device during and after a dive.

General Enhancements and Availability

Beyond the major bug fixes, the 17.30 beta update includes general improvements, such as updated translations across the user interface. This makes the software more accessible and user-friendly for a global audience.

Users can manually download the update directly from their device. To check for and install the new software, navigate to Main Menu > Settings > System > Software Update > Check For Updates. Garmin’s beta program allows enthusiasts to get a sneak peek at upcoming features and fixes, and this release is a step forward in making Garmin’s flagship smartwatches even more robust and reliable.
