Garmin Rolls Out Fresh Beta Update 10.19 for Instinct 3 Series: New features & Bug Fixes

Garmin is pushing out a new beta software update, version 10.19, for its popular Instinct 3 AMOLED, Instinct 3 Solar, and Instinct E smartwatches. This update brings a range of fixes and new features, aiming to refine the user experience across these robust devices.

Enhancements for All Instinct 3 and Instinct E Models

Users across all Instinct 3 and Instinct E smartwatches will find several improvements. Garmin has added Interval Alerts to Timers, a handy feature for structured workouts, though it won’t be available for tactical timers. The update also addresses a few lingering bugs, including a fix for the Power Modes menu in Garmin Connect Mobile (GCM) and a resolution for incorrect Area Calculation results. Additionally, a potential issue related to HR zones has been patched, ensuring more accurate heart rate data.

Specific Fixes for Instinct 3 Solar and Instinct E

Owners of the Instinct 3 Solar and Instinct E models will benefit from targeted corrections. A significant fix resolves an issue where DogTrack distance would not display values greater than one mile, improving usability for tracking companions over longer distances. The update also rectifies a problem with the Nautical Distance data field, ensuring accurate marine navigation information.

Updates for Instinct 3 Solar and Instinct 3 AMOLED

For users of the Instinct 3 Solar and Instinct 3 AMOLED, the new beta introduces Rep Alerts to the Jump Rope activity, providing better tracking for this exercise. Several issues related to the Golf activity have been addressed, including Golf Autoshot and various settings both on the device and within GCM. Other notable fixes include resolving a potential issue where the flashlight strobe could activate incorrectly during multisport activities, a potential crash when reviewing Backcountry Ski activity summaries, and invalid jump rope summary data. The Pack Weight setting in GCM has also been fixed.

Exclusive Features for Instinct 3 Solar

The Instinct 3 Solar model receives a couple of exclusive new data fields. Users can now monitor Solar Intensity and Solar Accumulation, providing deeper insights into their watch’s solar charging performance throughout the day.

Instinct 3 AMOLED Specific Improvements

The Instinct 3 AMOLED also gets its own set of tailored fixes. These include resolving a flashlight delay when using a Connect IQ (CIQ) watch face and correcting issues with missing weather data when Large Fonts are enabled. The Music data screen has also received a fix, improving the experience for listening to tunes on the go.

How to Get the Update

If you’re eager to try out these new features and fixes, you can manually download the update directly on your Garmin device. Simply navigate to the Main menu > Settings > System > Software Update > Check For Updates.
