Garmin has released a new beta software update, version 10.21, for several of its popular smartwatches, including the Instinct 3 AMOLED, Instinct 3 Solar, and Instinct E models. This update includes a range of fixes and new features designed to improve the user experience across these devices.
New Features and General Fixes
The update brings several enhancements that apply to all Instinct 3 and Instinct E smartwatches. A key addition is Interval Alerts for timers, which allows users to set alerts for specific intervals during their timed activities. The update also addresses a number of general bugs, including issues with the Power Modes menu in the Garmin Connect Mobile (GCM) app and a problem where area calculation results could be incorrect. Additionally, it fixes a potential issue related to heart rate zones, ensuring more accurate data for users.
Model-Specific Enhancements
The beta update also includes fixes and features tailored to specific models. Owners of the Instinct 3 Solar and Instinct E can now see DogTrack distances greater than one mile. The update also resolves issues with the Nautical Distance data field and fixes potential crashes when viewing glances.
For the Instinct 3 Solar and Instinct 3 AMOLED models, new Rep Alerts have been added to the Jump Rope activity. The update also tackles multiple bugs within the Golf activity, fixes an issue with the flashlight strobe turning on incorrectly during a multisport activity, and resolves invalid jump rope summary data.
The Instinct 3 Solar model gets a unique feature: two new data fields for Solar Intensity and Solar Accumulation, allowing users to better track their watch’s solar charging performance. Meanwhile, the Instinct 3 AMOLED receives specific fixes for its unique features, such as a flashlight delay issue when using a CIQ watch face and a problem with missing weather data when large fonts are enabled.
How to Get the Update
To manually download and install the new software, users can navigate to the main menu on their watch and follow these steps: Settings > System > Software Update > Check For Updates. This will allow you to access all the new features and bug fixes included in the 10.21 beta release.
