Garmin is beginning the rollout of a significant new stable software update, version 10.36, for several of its popular Instinct series smartwatches. This update brings a range of bug fixes and performance improvements to the Instinct 3 AMOLED, Instinct 3 Solar, and Instinct E models, enhancing their overall reliability and user experience.
Key Fixes and Improvements Across All Models
This update addresses several key issues, with some fixes applying to all Instinct 3 and Instinct E devices. A primary fix for all models resolves a potential problem when users try to access the Broadcast HR feature from a hotkey. This ensures smoother, more reliable heart rate data sharing for all users.
Specific Enhancements for Select Instinct Devices
The 10.36 update includes more targeted fixes for specific models. For Instinct 3 Solar and Instinct 3 AMOLED users, the update corrects an issue where the strobe light would remain on even after an activity was ended.
Meanwhile, users of the Instinct 3 Solar and Instinct E will see two important bug fixes. One addresses a problem where Connect IQ (CIQ) data fields would stop working after a user accessed a CIQ glance. The other rectifies an error with the weather glance, ensuring the current temperature displays correctly even when the value is 100 degrees or higher.
Finally, a specific fix for the Instinct 3 Solar model resolves a potential crash that could occur when pairing the Running Dynamics (RD) pod, making the connection more stable and reliable.
How to Get the Update
Garmin makes it easy to keep your device up to date. Most users will receive the software update automatically through the Garmin Connect app. When your smartwatch is connected to your smartphone via Bluetooth, the app will download the update in the background.
If you prefer to manually check for the update, you can do so directly on your device. Navigate to Settings > System > Software Update to check if the new version is available for download and to begin the installation process. You can also use the Garmin Express desktop application by connecting your watch to your computer with its charging cable.
