Garmin has started releasing a new stable software update for its lifestyle smartwatch lineup. Owners of the Venu 4 and Vivoactive 6 can now download firmware version 17.38.
Unlike major software rollouts that introduce flashy features, this targeted release focuses purely on behind-the-scenes system maintenance.
What Is Included in Update 17.38?
According to Garmin’s official release notes, the change log for this build is brief:
-
General security improvements
Security patches like this help protect personal data stored on your smartwatch and fix background vulnerabilities. Even though version 17.38 does not add new sports modes or interface tweaks, installing it ensures your watch stays stable and secure.
How to Install the Update
Garmin watches generally download software packages in the background when connected to the Garmin Connect phone app or Wi-Fi. If you prefer to update right away instead of waiting for the automatic rollout, you can trigger a manual check on your wrist.
Here is how to get the update manually:
-
Open the Main Menu on your watch.
-
Select Settings.
-
Scroll down and tap System.
-
Choose Software Update.
-
Press Check For Updates.
Once your watch connects to Wi-Fi or your paired phone, it will fetch version 17.38 and prompt you to finish the installation.
