Garmin releases new beta update 17.29 for Fenix 8, Enduro 3, and Tactix 8 smartwatches

Garmin has just released a new beta software update, version 17.29, for several of its smartwatches, including the Fenix 8, Fenix E, Enduro 3, Tactix 8, and Quatix 8. This update aims to fix several bugs and improve the overall user experience.

Key Bug Fixes in the Update

  • Fixed inReach remote issues after connection is lost and regained.
  • Fixed issue with varying altitude at higher altitudes.
  • Fixed potential issue where smart notifications would not pop up after an update.
  • Fixed potential shutdown when editing dive activity data fields.
  • Updated Translations.

This new software version, 17.29, tackles several persistent issues users have reported. A notable fix addresses the inReach remote connection, ensuring it reconnects properly after a temporary signal loss. For those who track high-altitude activities, the update resolves a bug that caused inaccurate or varying altitude readings at higher elevations. Additionally, it fixes a potential problem where smart notifications might not appear correctly after a software update is installed. The update also corrects a potential shutdown issue that could occur when a user tries to edit data fields within a dive activity. Finally, the update includes updated translations to improve the user interface for non-English speakers.

How to Get the Update

Getting the update is straightforward. Users can manually download it directly on their device. To do so, simply navigate through the main menu: go to Settings, then System, then Software Update, and finally select Check For Updates. This will initiate the download and installation process for the new software.
