Garmin is launching a fresh beta software update, designated version 20.11, aimed at enhancing the experience across several of its premium smartwatch lines. This rollout is specifically targeting the Fenix 8, Fenix E, Enduro 3, Tactix 8, and Quatix 8 smartwatches. Users of these devices can anticipate a range of improvements, from new feature additions to critical bug fixes, all designed to make their daily use more seamless and functional.
Note: This Beta software available for the Fenix 8 series will have the ECG feature and Dive features disabled.
Key Feature Additions and Updates
One of the most notable changes in this software release is the introduction of Hot Key Support for the Calculator. This feature allows users to quickly and efficiently access the calculator function using a customized shortcut, greatly improving convenience for on-the-fly computations. This small but significant addition highlights Garmin’s focus on user workflow efficiency, especially for those who rely on their watch for quick utility tasks.
Critical Bug Fixes for Enhanced Stability
Alongside new features, version 20.11 addresses several important bugs to bolster the overall stability and user experience of the supported devices. A critical fix resolves an issue where the month in the date on the watch face was not being properly translated. This ensures that the date display is accurate and localized correctly, eliminating confusion for users around the world. Furthermore, the update fixes a problem where the Vibration and Tone Setting was missing from devices without a speaker, ensuring that all users, regardless of their device’s hardware configuration, have full control over their alert settings.
How to Manually Access the Update
For users who wish to install this beta software update immediately, Garmin has made the process straightforward. You can manually download the update directly on your compatible device. To do this, simply navigate through the watch’s menu system: start from the Main Menu, select Settings, then choose System, move to Software Update, and finally select Check For Updates. Following these steps will prompt your device to find and install the new version 20.11 software.
