Garmin has officially begun rolling out a new beta software update, version 15.08, for its popular Venu X1 smartwatches. This release introduces a mix of fresh features and critical stability improvements, aiming to enhance the overall user experience and reliability of the device.
Enhancing Health and Customization
One of the most notable additions in version 15.08 is a brand-new glance designed to provide users with a quick summary of their health data changes and overall well-being. This new widget consolidates key metrics, allowing for an effortless check on daily progress and trends. Furthermore, the update caters to user aesthetics by introducing three new watch faces, offering more options for personalizing the device’s look and feel.
Addressing Critical Stability and Audio Issues
A significant focus of this software update is addressing several critical bugs that impacted the day-to-day use of the Venu X1. Notably, Garmin has fixed an issue where the speaker could become muted or the device might reboot after a user tried to answer a phone call while music was actively playing through the watch’s speakers. This resolution should ensure a smoother transition between media playback and communication.
Another improvement targets the voice note function. The update includes a fix that reduces an initial “click” sound at the start of a voice note recording, and it resolves a separate bug that could cause a voice note to be replayed at half speed.
Fixing Notification and System Errors
Version 15.08 delivers fixes for common system and notification problems that users had reported. This includes correcting an issue where the notification number displayed on the watch face was sometimes inaccurate, ensuring users always see the correct count of pending alerts. Additionally, a fix has been deployed to ensure the evening report displays at the proper scheduled time.
Stability when receiving multiple alerts has also been improved. The software addresses a bug that could cause the device to reboot when receiving multiple smart notifications in rapid succession. Finally, a simple yet important quality-of-life improvement allows the device to be powered down without requiring a passcode to be entered first. Alongside these specific fixes, Garmin has included various other general bug fixes and improvements to bolster system performance.
How to Get the Update
Users who are part of the beta program can manually download the update directly on their Venu X1 device. To do so, navigate to the following menus: Main Menu > Settings > System > Software Update > Check For Updates.
