A new feature is rolling out for Peloton users, providing a direct link to Garmin Connect. This long-awaited integration allows you to sync your Garmin workout data directly to the Peloton app, but with a significant limitation—the connection is currently one-way. This means you can easily log activities like outdoor runs and bike rides from your Garmin device inside the Peloton app, but you can’t automatically send your Peloton workouts to Garmin Connect.
How the Integration Works
Until now, users who wanted to see their stats across both platforms had to rely on third-party services like SyncMyWorkout or Peloton to Garmin (P2G). This new native connection eliminates that extra step, streamlining the process for many. While broadcasting heart rate from a Garmin watch to a Peloton bike has been an option, the ability to automatically sync completed workouts is a new and valuable addition.
Once you have the update, you can enable the connection in the Peloton app by navigating to your profile, tapping the menu, and looking for Garmin Connect under the add-ons section. After you connect the accounts, your eligible Garmin activities, such as runs, bike rides, and other cardio sessions, will appear in your Peloton workout history.
Limitations and What’s Still Missing
Despite this progress, the integration is not a complete solution for everyone. A previous leak had hinted at a two-way sync, which would have allowed your Peloton workouts to automatically sync to Garmin Connect. Unfortunately, this is not yet a reality.
If your primary goal is to have all your fitness data stored in Garmin Connect, the new native integration won’t help you. You will still need to use external services like SyncMyWorkout or P2G to transfer your Peloton classes to Garmin. Even Garmin’s own support documents still recommend these unofficial workarounds.
Ultimately, the usefulness of this new feature depends on your personal data preferences. For those who do their outdoor training with a Garmin device and take occasional Peloton classes, having all their activities in one place within the Peloton app might be sufficient. However, for users who rely on Garmin Connect as their main hub for all fitness data, a significant gap remains until a true two-way sync is available.
