Garmin has just released a fresh software update for its Approach S70 smartwatch. This new stable version, labeled 27.06, comes exactly four months after the previous 25.11 update. If you own this golf watch, you can expect a few handy upgrades and some much-needed bug fixes.
Better Tracking for Your Golf Clubs
The biggest highlight of this update is the addition of new club types. Golfers can now track their shots using a Mini Driver, an Approach Wedge, or an Approach Wedge Hybrid. This means your watch will give you a much more accurate picture of your game based on the exact gear in your bag.
Fixes for Maps and Handicap Scores
Garmin also used this update to squash a few annoying bugs. First, they fixed a visual glitch where green contour elevation lines would sometimes fail to show up on certain courses. They also patched a scoring error that happened when players set their handicap mode to “Use Garmin Golf.”
Smooth Wallet Switching and How to Update
Finally, the update fixes a system clash that could happen when switching between checking CT1 club trackers and using the watch’s wallet or transit pass features.
If your watch hasn’t updated automatically yet, you can fetch it yourself right now. Just go to the Main menu, tap Settings, select System, hit Software Update, and then choose Check For Updates.
