Garmin is pushing out beta software version 17.19 to a range of its advanced smartwatches, including the Fenix 8, Fenix E, Enduro 3, and Tactix 8 models. This update aims to address several bugs and introduce new functionality to enhance the user experience.
Note: The Beta software available for the Fenix 8 series will have the ECG feature and Dive features disabled.
Key Improvements and Bug Fixes in Version 17.19
The new software version 17.19 brings a variety of fixes and a notable new feature. Users can expect improved stability and a more polished interface.
One of the significant bug fixes addresses a crash that occurred when pressing the back key within the Add Activities Menu, preventing frustrating interruptions during activity selection. The update also rectifies issues with the Saved Timer List, ensuring that users’ saved timers are now reliably accessible and functional.
A new feature introduced in this beta is Focus Mode support for watch faces. This integration allows watch faces to better align with the device’s Focus Mode settings, providing a more cohesive and less distracting experience during periods of concentration.
UI and Performance Enhancements
Several other improvements focus on refining the user interface and overall performance. The update resolves text overlapping on the Evening Report Recap Page, making the information presented there much clearer and easier to read.
Furthermore, touch transitions on the Recovery Heart Rate Page have been fixed, leading to smoother and more responsive navigation when reviewing recovery data. Finally, an annoying bug that caused the Fitness Age notification to pop up during sleep mode has been eliminated, ensuring an undisturbed night’s rest for users.
How to Manually Update Your Garmin Smartwatch
For users eager to try out these new improvements, the beta software update can be downloaded directly to your device. To initiate the update, simply navigate through your watch’s main menu: Main Menu > Settings > System > Software Update > Check For Updates. Ensure your device is connected to Wi-Fi or has a strong cellular connection (depending on your model) to download the update.
