Garmin Confirms New InReach Mini 3 Via Product Leak

Garmin recently extended its satellite messaging capabilities across its premium smartwatch line, notably with the launch of the Fenix 8 Pro. However, it appears the company has more in store for its dedicated satellite communication lineup. Recent evidence suggests that a successor to the long-serving inReach Mini 2 is imminent, potentially marking a significant upgrade in Garmin’s portable satellite messenger offerings.

Anticipated Successor to the InReach Mini 2

The inReach Mini 2 has long been recognized as a highly accessible starting point for users seeking Garmin’s reliable satellite communication services, thanks to its compact size and relatively lower cost. Its debut was nearly four years ago, positioning it well for a refresh. Earlier this year, Garmin introduced the GPSMap H1i Plus handheld navigator, which utilizes the company’s inReach Plus service. Now, attention is turning to the highly anticipated replacement for the Mini 2.

The Tell-Tale Marketing Slip-Up

The apparent confirmation of the new model, dubbed the inReach Mini 3, came directly from Garmin itself. A recent marketing email, which was quickly noted and captured by users (such as Redditor u/LargestIntestine), included an image of the forthcoming device. Realizing the error, Garmin promptly substituted the image with one featuring the older inReach Mini 2. This swift correction strongly indicates that the rumored inReach device is indeed genuine and on the cusp of an official launch.

Key Visual Changes on the Mini 3

The leaked photograph provides an early glimpse into the design evolution of the new model compared to its predecessor. The most notable change is the incorporation of a much larger display. The screen content clearly suggests enhanced functionality, including the ability to mark map waypoints and send messages across satellite networks, which would be a welcome improvement for navigation and communication.

The signature vertical antenna is also present, but it now features a distinctive red casing, adding a clear visual identifier. While these physical alterations are confirmed, details regarding the inReach Mini 3’s internal specifications, battery life, and pricing remain speculative for now. Given the nature of the leak, a global release is likely close at hand.
