Garmin is pushing out another software update for its newer running watches. The new software, Beta Version 17.30, is arriving just seven days after the company launched its previous beta version. This rapid release shows Garmin is moving quickly to fix performance bugs on both the Forerunner 970 and Forerunner 570.
Major Fixes for System Stability
The biggest goal of this software update is to keep the watches from shutting down. Garmin has fixed a frustrating issue that caused the devices to reset randomly during normal use. Additionally, the software engineers patched a severe bug that made the watches freeze or completely reboot right in the middle of a multisport workout, meaning athletes no longer have to worry about losing their training data.
Touchscreen and App Improvements
Aside from system stability, the update brings a few practical tweaks to everyday features. Users should experience smoother volume controls when using the touchscreen. For runners who log their meals directly on the watch, the nutrition app has been updated to display exact minutes alongside the hour for meal times. Finally, the update introduces refreshed text translations across various languages on the device. You can see the full change log in the picture below!

How to Get the Update
If you are signed up for Garmin’s Beta testing program, you can skip the wait for the automatic rollout and download the update right now. To do this manually on your watch, open the Main Menu, go to Settings, choose System, select Software Update, and then tap Check For Updates.
