Garmin drops fresh beta update 29.05 for Forerunner 965, 955, 265, 255, and 165: What’s new?

Garmin has officially started rolling out beta software version 29.05 for a wide range of its Forerunner smartwatches. The new test build is available for the Forerunner 965, 955, 265, 255, and entry-level 165 models.

What Is Fixed in This Update

  • Fix an issue from public beta 29.04 affecting device connection during Virtual Run activities.

The main focus of build 29.05 is a single bug fix to resolve an issue introduced in the previous release. In public beta version 29.04, many users noticed that their watches failed to maintain a stable connection during Virtual Run workouts. This latest patch eliminates that bug, ensuring smooth communication between your watch and third-party indoor running applications like Zwift or local treadmill systems.

How to Install Beta Version 29.05

While the software will automatically download in the background for users registered in Garmin’s public beta program, you can also trigger the update manually. On your watch, hold the menu button to access the main menu, navigate to Settings, choose System, select Software Update, and then tap Check For Updates to pull the software immediately.
