Garmin has started rolling out a new beta update for the Forerunner 970 and 570 smartwatches. The new software, version 18.27, focuses on fixing several bugs to make the watches run much more smoothly.
Screen and Display Fixes
This update addresses two main display problems. First, it fixes a bug that caused the screen to act up and ignore touch gestures. Second, it resolves an issue where the always-on display setting would refuse to turn on even after users enabled it.
Audio and Music Improvements
Music lovers get a handful of fixes in this version. Garmin patched a bug that stopped users from pausing music when controlling their phone’s audio, along with a glitch that broke volume adjustments inside the music app.
Safety and notification sounds also work better now. Button tones, incident detection alert tones, and audio spectator messages should play properly without getting cut off or drowned out by background music.
Voice Assistant and Golfing Upgrades
If you use the phone assistant on your watch, the update fixes a bug where voice commands were ignored, as well as an issue where the assistant stopped working after an incoming call interrupted it. Golfers will also notice faster response times, as Garmin fixed a lag that delayed the score prompt during a round.
