Garmin Enduro 4 Finally Lands on Amazon: Is It Actually Worth the Upgrade?

If you have been keeping a close eye on the wearable tech world, you probably already know that tracking a new flagship GPS watch is a journey filled with regulatory clues and sudden discoveries. For the past couple of months, I’ve been following the Garmin Enduro 4 through regulatory filings, and right after the official launch, I managed to uncover some exclusive, unseen lab pictures from Taiwan’s NCC that revealed the device’s internal details and real-world design up close.

Now, the watch is officially hitting major retail channels. The Garmin Enduro 4 is finally available for purchase on Amazon, bringing its ultra-performance battery life and rugged build straight to endurance athletes and outdoor enthusiasts.

First Impressions: A Little Too Familiar?

When Garmin officially pulled the curtain back on the Enduro 4, I’ll admit I was a little bit disappointed. Taking a look at the design and spec sheet, the watch looks and feels very similar to its predecessor, the Enduro 3. It retains that hardcore outdoor aesthetic and signature ultra-long battery performance, but at first glance, it didn’t feel like the massive, jaw-dropping generational leap that some of us were hoping for.

If you are trying to weigh your options between generations or sibling flagships, you can check out a detailed breakdown in our head-to-head guides: Enduro 4 vs. Enduro 3: What’s actually new and should you upgrade? and Enduro 4 vs. Fenix 9: Which flagship GPS watch wins your wrist?

Key Features Under the Hood

Despite the familiar exterior, Garmin did bump up the internal hardware specs on the Enduro 4. The watch now comes with double the 64 GB of onboard storage, giving you far more headroom for preloaded TopoActive maps, music playlists, and detailed offline routing data. Under the hood, Garmin also upgraded the RAM compared to the Enduro 3, which translates to noticeably smoother map panning, faster route recalculations, and punchier performance when navigating heavy data fields.

On the battery front, the Enduro 4 continues to lead the pack with insane battery specs. Fueled by an enhanced solar charging lens, it offers multi-week longevity in smartwatch mode and expanded hours of continuous All-Systems GNSS tracking, making it virtually immune to dead battery anxiety during multi-day ultra-marathons or backcountry expeditions. Add in top-tier dual-frequency GPS accuracy, advanced training load metrics, and built-in LED flashlight capabilities, and you have a hardware setup built for extreme conditions.

Should You Upgrade?

Here is where things get interesting—and where you might want to save your cash.

Garmin confirms that many of the new software features debuting on the Enduro 4 (such as Garmin Epic) will soon land on the Enduro 3 via an upcoming firmware update. Because of this, if you are already wearing an Enduro 3, I don’t see any strong, compelling reason behind rushing out to buy the Enduro 4.

However, if you are upgrading from much older hardware like the Enduro 2 or a Fenix 7, or if you are jumping over from a smartwatch ecosystem like Apple, the Enduro 4 is still an absolute powerhouse of a choice that will completely transform your battery life and outdoor mapping experience.
