Garmin releases new stable update 17.39 for Forerunner 970 and 570 watches

Garmin is sending out a fresh software update for two of its popular running watches. Owners of the Forerunner 970 and Forerunner 570 can now download version 17.39.

This stable update is small, but it targets a frustrating bug that affected how the watches respond to your touch and movement.

What the New Update Changes

  • Fixes a potential issue with the display that could cause unexpected behavior and inconsistent gesture response.

If your watch screen has been acting strange lately, this patch should solve the problem. Garmin fixed a display glitch that caused random bugs and made wrist gestures unpredictable.

After updating, the screen should wake up smoothly when you raise your arm and respond properly to your swipes.

How to Get Software Version 17.39

Your watch may download the software automatically in the background, but you can also grab it right now if you do not want to wait.

  • Press and hold the Main Menu button.

  • Scroll down and select Settings.

  • Tap System, then choose Software Update.

  • Select Check For Updates to start the download.
