Garmin is pushing out a new beta update for its Venu X1 smartwatch. The new software, version 18.27, does not bring any flashy new features to the table. Instead, it focuses heavily on fixing bugs and smoothing out day-to-day glitches across the entire system.
Fixing Screen and Display Glitches
A big chunk of this update deals with how the watch looks and responds to your touch. Garmin fixed a glitch that was causing the display to act strangely and ignore swipes or gestures. On top of that, another bug that stopped the Always On display setting from turning on when you wanted it to has now been resolved.
Better Music and Daily Sound Controls
Garmin also cleaned up a series of audio problems. If you use your watch to control music playing on your phone, you will notice that pausing now works as it should. The volume controls inside the music app have been fixed so the sound level actually changes when you turn it up or down. Key system sounds are working properly again, too. Button tones that had gone quiet are back, and safety alert tones will no longer fail to play if the watch detects an incident. Audio messages from spectators during workouts have also been tweaked so they play all the way through and do not get drowned out by music.
Voice Assistant and Daily Tools
Using the built-in phone assistant should feel much smoother after this patch. Garmin fixed an issue where the assistant would fail to recognize voice commands. It also fixed a frustrating bug where the assistant would completely freeze up and stop working if it got interrupted by an incoming phone call.
Golfing and Extra Tweaks
Golfers who track their games on the watch will benefit from a fix that gets rid of a annoying delay when the score prompt pops up on screen. Finally, Garmin included fresh translation updates to clean up language settings, along with several smaller bug fixes under the hood to keep the device running smoothly.
