Garmin is pushing out a fresh beta software update, version 17.25, to a range of its high-end smartwatches. This new update is available for users with a Fenix 8, Fenix E, Enduro 3, Tactix 8, and Quatix 8 device. It focuses on stability improvements, addressing some specific bugs that users may have encountered.
Note: The Beta software available for the Fenix 8 series will have the ECG feature and Dive features disabled.
Key Bug Fixes in Version 17.25
The changelog for this update highlights two specific, but critical, fixes aimed at preventing software crashes. The first issue addressed a crash that could happen when a user was in the process of creating a custom multisport activity. Previously, attempting to back out of this specific menu could cause the device to crash. This has now been resolved, allowing for a smoother and more reliable setup process for custom workouts.
The second fix targets a crash that occurred when users tried to access activity settings from the main menu, rather than from the activity stage page itself. This specific bug caused an unexpected shutdown, interrupting the user’s workflow. The new update rectifies this, ensuring that users can now navigate through their device’s menus and settings without any interruptions or stability issues.
How to Get the Update
As this is a beta release, users won’t receive the update automatically. You can manually download and install the new software directly from your watch. To do this, simply follow these steps:
- Press the UP/MENU button to access the main menu.
- Navigate to Settings and select System.
- Choose Software Update.
- Select Check For Updates to initiate the download and installation process.
