Garmin has started sending out a new stable software update for its Fenix 9 and Fenix 9 Pro smartwatches. The new version, labeled 6.73, focuses on fixing several technical glitches that were causing frustration for users during daily use and workouts.
Music and Spotify Improvements
Music playback receives important stability fixes in this release. Users who stream music through Spotify should no longer experience sudden audio stuttering or connection drops while wearing their watch. In addition, Garmin fixed a severe bug that caused the smartwatch to completely crash and shut down whenever a user attempted to switch from one Spotify playlist to another.
Major Bug Fixes and Stability Enhancements
The software update addresses two other critical crash issues that affected popular watch features. The device will no longer power off unexpectedly when you start or track a High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) workout session. The same stability fix applies to navigation, preventing the watch from crashing when loading or moving around detailed maps.
Morning Alarm Vibration Repair
A smaller but important daily feature has also been repaired with this update. Some users reported that their alarm vibration settings were automatically turning off without permission, leading to missed silent alarms. Version 6.73 permanently fixes this glitch so your chosen alarm vibration strength remains active as intended.
How to Download and Install the Update
While the software will reach most devices automatically over the coming days, you can easily install it right away using your watch menu. To perform a manual update check, open the main menu on your Fenix 9, navigate to Settings, choose System, select Software Update, and then tap Check for Updates.
