Garmin Drops Fresh Beta Update 15.11 for Instinct 3 Smartwatches

Garmin is moving fast with its testing cycle. Just six days after launching beta update 15.08, the company is already pushing out another test build. The new beta software, version 15.11, is now rolling out for testers using the Instinct 3 Solar, Instinct 3 AMOLED, Instinct E, and Crossover AMOLED smartwatches.

Because this is a beta release, Garmin is aiming to squash bugs quickly before the official software goes out to everyone.

What’s New for All Instinct 3 Models

If you are enrolled in the beta program and own any version of the Instinct 3, this update brings a couple of handy fixes. First, hikers will get better gear recommendations during their outdoor treks. Second, Garmin patched an annoying bug that messed with distance calibration while running on a treadmill.

Special Fixes for Solar and E Models

Some fixes in this beta build are specific to certain devices. For example, owners of the Instinct 3 Solar and Instinct E will no longer see blank data fields on their watch faces—a glitch that previously popped up when using certain languages.

Additionally, a fix exclusive to the Instinct 3 Solar brings back the “Auto Select Satellites” option, which had accidentally gone missing from the Power Manager settings.

How to Download the Beta Right Now

If your watch is enrolled in Garmin’s beta program, you don’t have to wait for the wireless rollout. You can pull the update manually right from your wrist:

How to update: Go to the Main Menu > Settings > System > Software Update and select Check For Updates.
