Garmin just dropped a fresh beta software update for its rugged smartwatch lineup. If you own an Instinct 3 AMOLED, Instinct 3 Solar, Instinct E, or Crossover AMOLED, your watch is up for some quick fixes.
The new update is version 15.08, and it mainly focuses on cleaning up small bugs to make everything run a bit smoother.
What the new update fixes
Every watch on the list gets a general package of “miscellaneous bug fixes and improvements.” Garmin didn’t get into the exact details for every single model, but these tweaks usually help with battery efficiency, system stability, and snappy screen transitions.
However, if you have an Instinct 3 Solar or an Instinct E, you get a couple of specific fixes that should make life easier:
-
Better dog tracking: There was an annoying bug in the DogTrack glance where the dog pointer arrow pointed the wrong way. That is now fixed.
-
Clearer data screens: A bug that accidentally blocked or obscured Connect IQ (CIQ) custom data fields has been cleared up, so you can see your stats clearly again.
How to get it on your watch
Because this is a beta update, it might not pop up on your wrist automatically just yet. If you don’t want to wait around, you can force the download manually right from your watch’s screen.
Just push a few buttons to navigate through this path: Main menu > Settings > System > Software Update > Check For Updates. Make sure your watch is connected to your phone or Wi-Fi so it can grab the new files.
