Garmin Rolls Out New Beta Version 16.06 for the Instinct 3 Series

Just a few days after releasing Beta 16.05, Garmin is back with another quick update for the Instinct 3 lineup. The company has officially started rolling out Beta software version 16.06 to users enrolled in its public beta program.

If you are experiencing a bit of déjà vu, you aren’t alone. Just like the previous update, the change log for version 16.06 is completely identical to the last one.

A Familiar Rollout for the Instinct 3 Family

According to Garmin, the new software version is heading out Over-The-Air (OTA) and is currently sitting at a 20% rollout stage.

The update covers the entire extended family of watches, including the Instinct 3 AMOLED (45mm and 50mm), Instinct 3 Solar (45mm and 50mm), Instinct E (40mm and 45mm), the Tactical variants, and the Instinct Crossover AMOLED.

The Same Exact Change Log

If you check the release notes on the official Garmin forums, you will find the same list of tweaks and fixes we saw just days ago:

  • Added Recovery Mode.

  • Improved wave detection in Surf activity.

  • Fixed lag when viewing calendar.

  • Fixed possible crash when starting a workout through a CIQ app.

  • Fixed issue where DogTrack pointer would not update.

For those already on the beta train, your watch should pick up the update automatically as the percentage rolls out. While it doesn’t bring any brand-new surprises, it shows Garmin is continuing to iron out bugs behind the scenes for its rugged smartwatch lineup.
