Garmin is beginning the stable deployment of a new software update, version 17.07, designed for several of its rugged smartwatches. This update is specifically targeting the Instinct 2, Instinct 2S, Instinct 2X, and Instinct Crossover models. This is a crucial release for users of these popular outdoor-focused devices.
Key Fixes in Version 17.07
- Fixed DogTrack distance when using Metric units.
The main purpose of this update is to resolve an important issue that some users have experienced. The primary fix noted in the change log addresses a problem with the DogTrack distance measurement when the watch’s units were set to Metric. This ensures greater accuracy for users tracking their dogs with compatible accessories while using kilometers and meters. However, we suspect that the flashlight fix has been silently rolled into Garmin’s new update, too.
How to Get the Update
If your compatible Garmin Instinct device hasn’t already prompted you to download System Software 17.07 (or the preceding version, 17.06, if you missed it), you can easily manually trigger the download. To do this on your Instinct 2 or Instinct Crossover smartwatch, navigate to the Main menu, then select Settings. From there, go to System, choose Software Update, and finally tap on Check For Updates. This process will initiate the update so you can benefit from the latest improvements.
