Garmin has officially released a fresh beta firmware update, version 16.14, specifically designed for the Vivoactive 6 series. This update introduces several quality-of-life improvements, ranging from deeper health insights to enhanced sports tracking capabilities.
New Tracking Glances for Health and Hardware
The 16.14 beta update focuses heavily on “glances”—the quick-view widgets that provide instant data on the watch face. Users can now monitor their weight trends directly from their wrist. Additionally, a new battery performance glance has been added, allowing users to keep a closer eye on power consumption and remaining life. Sports fans are also in luck, as a dedicated glance for tracking favorite teams is now part of the interface.
Advanced Training and Coaching Features
Fitness enthusiasts will find significant value in the expanded training options. This version introduces specialized training plans tailored for timed sessions and cardio-focused routines. Strength training hasn’t been forgotten either, with optional strength-based workouts now integrated into the planning ecosystem. These updates are designed to help users structure their weekly fitness goals more effectively, without needing to build every session manually.
Behavioral Insights and Sleep Optimization
Garmin is doubling down on “holistic health” by adding a glance that correlates daily behaviors with health metrics. This helps users understand how their habits—like caffeine intake or activity levels—impact their physiological data. Furthermore, the sleep glance has been upgraded to provide personalized insights, recommending ideal bedtime and wake-up windows based on your body’s recovery needs.
Enhanced System Settings and Accessibility
The user interface receives a boost with the addition of color filters, allowing for better screen visibility and customization. On the audio front, Garmin has introduced voice alerts within the system settings. This includes specific voice prompts for those using compatible radar devices, ensuring cyclists stay informed of approaching vehicles without needing to constantly stare at their handlebars.
Multisport Support and Installation Guide
For the first time in this beta cycle, the Vivoactive 6 gains the ability to record consecutive activities (Multisport), which is essential for triathletes or those moving quickly from a run to a gym session.
To experience these new features, users enrolled in the beta program can manually trigger the download by navigating to: Main Menu > Settings > System > Software Update > Check For Updates.
