Garmin has started rolling out a new beta software update, version 24.13, for several of its top-tier smartwatches. This release comes just one week after the rollout of the previous beta update 24.12, which brought massive improvements to users.
The new 24.13 update is available for the Fenix 8, Fenix 8 Pro, Fenix E, Tactix 8, Quatix 8, and Enduro 3 models. It focuses primarily on fixing a long list of remaining bugs, performance glitches, and display errors.
Note: The Beta software available for the Fenix 8 series will have the ECG feature and Dive features Disabled.
Fixes for System Crashes and Freeze Issues
One of the biggest improvements in this release is stability. Garmin fixed an issue that caused devices to crash when users opened the map page. Another bug that caused watches to freeze or stop responding after being connected to a USB cable for a long time has also been resolved.
Additionally, runners will notice better reliability, as Garmin fixed rare crashes that happened during track run activities.
Navigation and Map Display Improvements
Map users will see several fixes in this update. A bug preventing map themes from changing properly has been removed, and coordinate information will no longer show up incorrectly on map screens.
Garmin also fixed a problem with the address search feature, making sure the magnifier tool now works as intended.
Audio and Notification Fixes
Garmin addressed several audio and visual alerts with version 24.13. The distorted sound glitch affecting alarms and notifications has been repaired.
Other fixed issues include move alerts staying stuck in the notification center, streak alerts accidentally overriding step-goal alerts during workouts, and a screen freeze where the display turned black after saving a point of interest.
Health Data and Workout Bug Repairs
Fitness tracking accuracy receives a boost in this patch. Heart rate graphs will now correctly display in activity summaries, and heart rate broadcasting will no longer shut down when Bluetooth is turned off.
For runners and divers, Garmin fixed the average grade-adjusted pace data field, which previously failed to fill in. Divers will also see accurate entry and exit points for single dives and free dives (apnea).
Additional System Fixes
This beta patch includes several smaller tweaks to clean up the interface:
-
The “Display Settings” shortcut now opens the correct menu.
-
The “Iron Portal” watch face has been restored to show all data fields properly.
-
The decimal selector was removed when editing pack weight if decimals are not supported.
-
Buttons on the NTN “try again” screen now respond when tapped.
