Garmin has released software update version 7.13 for its flagship smartwatches, including the Fenix 9, Fenix 9 Pro, and Enduro 4. This release marks the very first beta software update available for these newer wearable devices.
The update introduces several new features, fixes annoying software bugs, and improves general system performance across multiple sports and everyday watch functions.
New Features and Handy Customizations
The version 7.13 beta update brings useful new features for athletes and outdoor enthusiasts. Users can now edit their covered distance directly in both the Indoor Cycling and XC Ski Indoor activity profiles.
Garmin has also added new post-activity cards for walking and running that display pack weight along with the calorie burn rate linked to that extra weight.
Other key additions include:
-
Power Mode Guidance: A new first-time tip to help users set up power modes.
-
Flashlight Adjustments: A customizable timeout setting added to the quick flashlight control.
-
Watch Face Styling: A new smooth second hand option available on select watch faces.
Important Bug Fixes and Stability Enhancements
This software patch fixes a long list of bugs that previously caused smartwatches to freeze or crash. Most notably, Garmin resolved several issues that triggered sudden watch shutdowns, such as starting a HIIT workout, changing sports, switching Spotify playlists, searching for points of interest, or using ClimbPro during a run.
Additional fixes address minor visual errors and functional glitches:
-
Notifications: Fixed a bug where incoming calls or app alerts played sounds even while in silent mode.
-
Maps & Navigation: Fixed course preview issues with TopoActive and OSM maps enabled, along with map layer menu glitches and north arrow placement errors.
-
Heart Rate & Health: Resolved heart rate dropouts in ArcheryX and fixed a bug where Running Stamina incorrectly showed “Maximum Zone” when a user’s heart rate was low.
-
Activity Tracking: Fixed weight editing issues when using side buttons during strength training and corrected player score displays in round info pages.
Performance Improvements Across the System
Beyond bug fixes, Garmin updated several popular features to run smoother. Shot detection accuracy for golf activities has been improved, and the Indoor Row activity profile received a performance boost.
The update also speeds up responsiveness in the Epic app, refines the World Timer watch face layout, and updates language translations throughout the interface.
How to Get the Update
Garmin users enrolled in the beta testing program can download version 7.13 directly to their watch.
