Garmin has officially started rolling out a new software update for its flagship smartwatches. Version 6.74 is now available for users owning the standard Fenix 9 and the higher-end Fenix 9 Pro.
This release comes just 10 days after Garmin launched version 6.73. The quick follow-up shows the company is actively fine-tuning performance and fixing small problems reported by early users.
What Has Changed in Version 6.74?
- Miscellaneous Bug Fixes
Unlike major updates that bring exciting new features, version 6.74 is a smaller, maintenance-focused release. The official changelog lists “miscellaneous bug fixes” aimed at improving overall system stability and performance.
Garmin often releases these smaller updates to resolve minor glitches, improve battery optimization, or fix sensor tracking issues that were missed in larger software releases.
How to Install the Update on Your Watch
Garmin smartwatches usually download updates automatically in the background when connected to Wi-Fi or your smartphone via the Garmin Connect app. However, if you want to get the latest fixes right away, you can force a manual check directly on your wrist:
-
Press and hold the menu button to open the Main Menu.
-
Scroll down and tap Settings.
-
Select System.
-
Choose Software Update.
-
Tap Check for Updates to download and install version 6.74.
