Garmin has begun rolling out a new beta software update, version 31.69, for its previous-generation flagship cycling computers.
This latest release is currently available for public beta testers using the Edge 1040, Edge 840, and Edge 540 series.
Bosch eBike Connection Issue Finally Fixed
The standout highlight of version 31.69 is a direct fix for Bosch eBike connectivity.
Ever since beta update version 31.65 rolled out, we received a flood of messages from readers reporting that their Edge bike computers could no longer connect or sync with Bosch eBike systems. Garmin has officially resolved the bug in this build, allowing e-bike riders to pair their devices again and view live assist modes, battery levels, and motor telemetry during rides.
Garmin BaseCamp Support Restored
This update also restores full compatibility with Garmin’s desktop route-planning software.
A bug in recent software builds caused connection and synchronization issues with Garmin BaseCamp. With version 31.69, cyclists who rely on BaseCamp to plan routes, export GPX tracks, and manage legacy map files offline can once again sync seamlessly with their Edge hardware.
Performance Tweaks and Minor Bug Fixes
Alongside the major connection patches, the 31.69 build delivers overall performance improvements.
Garmin has bundled several background bug fixes and stability tweaks into the update to minimize unexpected screen freezes and prevent mid-ride system crashes.
How to Install Beta Update 31.69 via Wi-Fi
If your Edge computer is connected to a Wi-Fi network and registered in Garmin’s public beta program, you can download the software patch directly from your device.
To check for the update manually, go to the Main Menu, tap System, select About, and press Check For Updates.
