Garmin has commenced the distribution of its newest beta software, version 23.35, to a selection of its high-end wearables. This latest pre-release build is targeting owners of the Fenix 7, Epix 2, Enduro 2, Quatix 7, and Marq Gen 2 series of smartwatches. This update primarily focuses on enhancing stability and fixing a couple of minor but notable bugs reported by beta testers.
Key Improvements in Version 23.35
This particular beta release is not focused on introducing new features, but rather on refining the current user experience by addressing specific operational hiccups. The official change log highlights two main areas of improvement:
- Enhanced inReach Remote Reliability: Users who rely on the inReach Remote functionality—which allows for two-way messaging, tracking, and SOS triggering via a paired inReach satellite communicator—will benefit from general stability fixes. This is crucial for maintaining reliable communication and safety features, especially in remote environments.
- Resolved Activity Selection Shutdown: A potential bug that could cause an unexpected device shutdown when users access the activity selection list has been patched. This fix ensures a smoother and more dependable user interface when starting or reviewing different activity profiles on the watch.
How to Manually Install the New Software
The process for initiating the manual update is straightforward and can be accessed through the device’s main settings menu:
- Navigate to the Main menu on your device.
- Select Settings.
- Choose System.
- Select Software Update.
- Finally, choose Check For Updates.
The watch will then attempt to download and install the new software, provided it has a connection to Wi-Fi or a paired smartphone via Garmin Connect.
