Garmin Launches Beta Update 30.14 for Edge 1050, 1040, 850, 840, 550, and 540 Series

Garmin has officially begun the rollout of its latest Beta Version 30.14 for a wide range of its cycling computers. This update is designed to refine the user experience and address specific visual bugs reported by the community. The software is currently becoming available for the Edge 1050, 1040, 850, 840, 550, and 540 models.

Key Bug Fixes and Display Enhancements

  • Fixed brightness slider at 0% causing screen to appear to be off.
  • Fixed labels overlapping on graphical data field for elevation.

The primary focus of this release is on correcting display inconsistencies that affected device usability during rides. Specifically, Garmin has resolved a critical issue where the brightness slider would cause the screen to appear completely powered down when set to 0%.

Additionally, riders using the elevation graphical data fields will notice a cleaner interface. The development team has fixed an error where data labels would overlap, ensuring that your climbing metrics remain legible at a glance.

How to Install the 30.14 Beta Update

If you are enrolled in the Garmin Beta Program, you can trigger the download manually using a wireless connection. Ensure your device is connected to a Wi-Fi network, then follow these steps:

  1. Open the Main Menu on your Edge device.

  2. Navigate to the System settings.

  3. Select About.
