Garmin has officially begun deploying Beta Version 13.15 for its rugged wearable lineup. This substantial firmware update targets the newly released Instinct 3 series (including AMOLED and Solar variants), the Instinct E, and the Crossover AMOLED models.
Beyond standard bug fixes, this release introduces several quality-of-life features and specialized activity profiles to the Garmin ecosystem.
Enhanced Fitness and Navigation Features
The latest update expands the versatility of the Instinct lineup by introducing a Treadmill Walk activity profile. For users who prefer indoor rowing, Garmin has added the ability to save distance data directly within the activity. Additionally, the update brings specialized Trucking features to these models, catering to professional drivers who rely on their wearables for long-haul logistics.
Navigation and communication also see improvements with the updated inReach functionality. Users can now access inReach data even when a live connection is unavailable. Garmin also addressed several connectivity bugs, ensuring that long messages and notifications display correctly when using an Open connection.
Personalization and Wellness Upgrades
Garmin is focusing on the “start-of-day” experience with two key additions: Smart Wake alarms and expanded Morning Report customizations. These tools allow users to wake up during lighter sleep cycles and tailor the data they see first thing in the morning.
For athletes focusing on intensity, the Stair Stepper and Floor Climb activities now support Pack Weight inputs (exclusive to the Instinct 3 and Crossover models). Furthermore, these specific models will see improved Training Readiness metrics, providing more accurate insights into when the body is recovered enough for a hard session.
Critical Bug Fixes and Stability
This beta cycle resolves several persistent issues found in previous versions:
-
Swimming: Fixes for inaccurate SWOLF scores, rest times, and calorie counts in pool activities.
-
System Behavior: A fix for the “re-entering sleep mode” bug and a resolution for duplicated workouts after editing in Garmin Connect.
-
Visuals: Crossover users will notice fixed workout animations and a new watch face design, while AMOLED users will see improved notification icons.
-
Reliability: The Instinct 3 Solar and Instinct E received a patch to prevent potential crashes when disconnecting the device from a computer.
