Garmin is pushing out a new beta update, version 16.07, for several smartwatches in the Instinct lineup. The update targets the Instinct 3 AMOLED, Instinct 3 Solar, Instinct E, and Crossover AMOLED models.
The change log for version 16.07 is identical to the previous beta release, version 16.06, but it brings a few notable fixes and a new troubleshooting feature to the software.
What’s New and Fixed in Version 16.07
While the release carries over the same feature set from the prior build, here is a breakdown of what is included:
-
Recovery Mode: Garmin has added Recovery Mode support, a troubleshooting tool designed to help users boot and restore the watch if it encounters startup issues, allowing you to attempt automatic recovery, cancel a stuck activity, delete corrupted maps, or execute a factory reset.
-
Better Surf Tracking: Wave detection during the Surf activity has been improved for better accuracy.
-
Faster Calendar: Garmin fixed an issue that caused lag when opening or scrolling through the calendar.
-
Workout Crash Fix: The update resolves a bug where the watch could crash when launching a workout through a Connect IQ (CIQ) app.
-
DogTrack Fix: An issue where the DogTrack pointer stopped updating has now been fixed.
How to Get the Update
If you are enrolled in Garmin’s Beta Program, you can manually install version 16.07 directly on your device without waiting for an automatic rollout.
To check for the update manually, go to your watch’s Main Menu, select Settings, navigate to System, tap Software Update, and select Check for Updates.
