Garmin Drops New Beta Software Update 14.12 for Instinct 3 Series

If you’ve been keeping an eye on your Garmin’s update screen, you’ll notice a new version hitting the Beta channel. Garmin is currently pushing Version 14.12 to the Instinct 3 (AMOLED and Solar versions), the Instinct E, and the Crossover AMOLED. It’s not a massive overhaul by any means, but it’s a necessary polish for the latest hardware.

A Familiar Changelog

If you feel like you’ve read these notes before, you’re not crazy. According to the official Garmin forums, this build is almost a carbon copy of the previous 14.09 version. It seems Garmin is sticking to minor tweaks right now rather than dropping any “game-changing” features, likely focusing on squashing the last few bugs before these builds go public.

Small Fixes for Specific Watches

Even though it’s a light update, there are two specific fixes worth mentioning depending on which model is on your wrist:

  • For the Instinct 3 AMOLED: They finally fixed the “Arm Circles” animation. Previously, if you were following a guided workout, the animation was just… gone. Now it’s back so you can actually see what you’re supposed to be doing.

  • For the Solar and Instinct E: There was an annoying UI bug where stock prices were getting cut off on the screen. Version 14.12 fixes the spacing so you can actually see your portfolio’s (hopefully green) numbers.

How to Grab the Update

You don’t have to wait for the “Update Available” notification to pop up on its own. If you’re in the Beta program, you can force the download manually:

Just head into your Menu, scroll down to System, hit Software Update, and then tap Check for Updates. It’ll ping the servers and start the install process right there.

A Note on the Changelog: Error or Intention?

Interestingly, the official notes for 14.12 look exactly like the ones we saw for 14.09. While Garmin may be just double-downing on these specific fixes to ensure they’ve truly stuck, it’s also quite common for the initial forum post to contain a placeholder or “copy-paste” error.

I’ll be keeping a close eye on the official Garmin threads over the next 24 hours. Often, when the community points out that the logs are identical, a Garmin representative will jump in to update the post with the actual technical changes or “under-the-hood” improvements. If the notes change, I’ll be sure to update you. You can also check out the image below for the full list of changes included in Version 14.12 since the last stable Public Release (13.29).
