We have passed the halfway point of 2026, and while there have been a few notable updates in the field of wearables, it seems that the bigger fish are yet to emerge. With the first half of the year offering us some reliable software upgrades and the unexpected D2 Mach 2 Pro, the latter six months offer an opportunity for Garmin to rethink its offerings in the realms of screenless recovery hardware, premium cycling equipment, and beginner runner watches.
These are the five Garmin models that I am looking forward to trying before 2026 is out.
1. Garmin Fenix 9
The Fenix line continues to rule supreme in the multisport realm. Considering the rapid product cycle, as well as some subtle clues from the company’s CEO, the Fenix 9 will be the most highly anticipated model for the autumn season.
Speculation:
The biggest headline here would be the Elevate Gen 6 sensor, capable of monitoring non-invasive blood pressure trends. Other notable highlights may include Tri-band GNSS for pinpointing 50 cm accuracy in urban environments and an innovative “Solar-AMOLED” screen blend.
Estimated Release Date:
August – October 2026. It is no secret that Garmin prefers to release its premium outdoor wearables during late summer.
2. Garmin CIRQA
I think this is probably the most “un-Garmin” product on this list, and that’s precisely why I’m looking forward to it. After appearing on regional sites and FCC listings, the new Garmin CIRQA is an upcoming smart band without a screen that solely focuses on recovery.
What to expect:
This is an upcoming subscription-free “Whoop killer” with the newest heart rate array, skin temperature sensors, and a huge emphasis on Body Battery and Sleep Coaching. This product will be great for all those who want Garmin metrics but like wearing a classic mechanical watch on their other wrist.
Release Prediction:
Q2 or Q3 of 2026. Though some have predicted a spring release, chances are it will come out in the second half of the year.
3. Garmin Edge 1060
It has been quite some time since the Edge 1050 turned the tide by introducing its own speaker and vivid display. Come 2026, we will be ready for the Edge 1060.
Features Expected:
Whereas the 1050 was “loud,” the 1060 would likely be “bright.” The anticipated 4500-nit MicroLED display would settle the argument between “sunlight” and AMOLED display once and for all. Expect the Sat-Link 360 two-way satellite messaging capability to come pre-installed on the device, negating the need for an InReach device for off-the-grid safety purposes.
Date of Release Prediction:
June – August 2026. Garmin tends to release updates to its cycling computers right before the height of the summer cycling season.
4. Garmin Forerunner 170
The Forerunner 165 was the biggest success story for beginners. Its successor is just around the corner. The Forerunner 170 will be the starter kit for runners towards the end of 2026.
Features Expected to Be Added:
I am sure that Training Readiness will finally get into the “1” series. Another feature expected is the switch to an improved AMOLED display, and adding Dual-Band GPS for mapping track workouts precisely.
Launch Forecast:
September – November 2026. This time coincides well with both marathon events and the holiday shopping period.
5. Garmin Vivosmart 6
Considering that the fitness tracker market is evolving, the Vivosmart 6 by Garmin is their attempt to cater to those looking for a thin and classic band, without the extra weight of a watch.
Expected Features:
GPS is the big reveal made on the Indonesian version of Garmin’s website. It is a huge leap from the previous model, which had to connect to your phone for navigation purposes. It is expected to have more than 30 sports applications and even special modes for people using wheelchairs.
Release Date Prediction:
Early H2 2026. Even though it was revealed earlier this year, its widespread availability can be predicted to happen in the latter part of 2026.
Final Thoughts
This period in 2026 is a critical one for Garmin. Given the fact that their new product CIRQA, is still experimental while the Edge 1060 is an advanced version of previous ones, it seems that Garmin wants to try all their options when it comes to the “active lifestyle.” The coming months will be quite busy and pricey for people interested in sports equipment.

Man I was really hoping to get the 170 out soon, I’m on the market for a new watch and it doesn’t really make sense to buy the 165 anymore.
