Garmin Connect Gets a Fresh 5.27 Update: Here Is What Is New

Garmin has just released version 5.27 of its Garmin Connect app. While recent headlines focused on hidden codes and upcoming hardware in early builds of the software, this official release actually brings some handy features for everyday users.

The biggest change is designed to solve a problem many Garmin owners face: having too much data on screen at once.

A Cleaner Way to Track Your Core Stats

If you have ever felt overwhelmed by the mountain of graphs and numbers in the Garmin Connect app, the new Essentials feature is built for you.

Instead of cluttering your dashboard with endless metrics, Essentials lets you pick up to four core health stats to feature right on your main screen. Each card shows a clear number or text rating, an easy-to-read chart, and an icon so you can check your health at a glance.

You can customize this dashboard by picking from stats like:

  • Sleep Score

  • Body Battery

  • Training Readiness

  • Heart Rate Status

  • Overall Health Status

  • Daily Step Count

Keep in mind that this feature does not turn on automatically. You will need to jump into the app settings and flip the switch to turn it on yourself.

Better Support for Triathletes and Device Switching

Beyond the new dashboard layout, update 5.27 includes several smaller quality-of-life tweaks.

For runners, swimmers, and cyclists, Garmin expanded its Garmin Coach tools specifically to give triathletes better training plans. Sleep tracking schedules also received a few fine-tuning adjustments.

Finally, setting up a main training device is now smoother. This tweak comes at a good time for users picking up new gear—like the recently released Garmin CIRQA—making it much easier to swap primary tracking devices without messing up your long-term fitness stats.
