Garmin releases new stable update 17.11 for Instinct 2, 2S, 2X, and Crossover watches

Garmin has released a new software update for its popular outdoor smartwatches. The update, version 17.11, is a stable release now rolling out to several models in the Instinct lineup.

This latest patch is available for the Instinct 2, Instinct 2X, Instinct 2S, and the Instinct Crossover.

Solar Power Issue Now Resolved

  • Fixed a possible issue where solar charging could be disabled.

The main highlight of this update is a quick fix for the watch’s battery. Garmin discovered a bug that could accidentally turn off the device’s solar charging feature.

For watches built to last weeks on sunlight, this was a major headache for hikers and athletes. The new software solves this problem, making sure your watch keeps charging under the sun without any random shutdowns.

How to Get the Update on Your Watch

While the update will eventually hit all devices automatically, you don’t have to wait for it. You can force your watch to download the new software right now by following a few quick steps in the settings.

Here is how to check for it manually:

  • Open the Main Menu on your watch.

  • Scroll down and select Settings.

  • Tap on System.

  • Go to Software Update.

  • Select Check For Updates to start the download.
