Garmin enthusiasts have a reason to check their wrists today as the tech giant begins deploying Beta Version 14.13. This latest firmware refresh targets the rugged side of Garmin’s lineup, specifically the Instinct 3 AMOLED, Instinct 3 Solar, Instinct E, and the Crossover AMOLED.
While this is technically a beta release, it is remarkably polished. Based on the current development cycle, I suspect this 14.13 build is the final polish we’ll see before it transitions into a stable public release—likely hitting all users in the coming few days.
New Features Across the Instinct 3 and Instinct E Lineup

The update is packed with utility-focused additions designed to make the Instinct series even more capable daily drivers. Users can now access a Stocks glance directly from their wrist, alongside a new Mobility app geared toward improving flexibility and movement.
For those who take their rest as seriously as their training, Garmin has integrated the Recovery Time glance and the Morning Report card, bringing these fan-favorite data summaries to the Instinct ecosystem. Perhaps most importantly for power users, the update finally introduces Backup and Restore support, ensuring your settings and data remain safe during device swaps or resets.
Critical Fixes and System Stability
Beyond the shiny new features, 14.13 addresses several annoying bugs that were lingering in previous versions. Garmin has smoothed out a potential crash that occurred when users were in the middle of Interval Workouts, and fixed a navigation glitch when routing to locations via the Saved app. Communication also gets a boost, with a patch for an issue that prevented inReach messages from being sent to multiple contacts simultaneously.
Model-Specific Enhancements
Certain features in this rollout are reserved for the higher-end hardware:
-
Solar, AMOLED, & Crossover: These models now support the Workout Execution Score, giving you a graded look at how well you followed your training plan. Furthermore, the training guidance algorithm has been updated to factor in recent dives, ensuring divers don’t overexert themselves after time underwater.
-
Crossover Only: The hybrid Crossover receives CIQ support for its analog hands, allowing third-party developers more control over how the physical hands interact with digital data.
How to Install the Update
If you are enrolled in the Garmin Beta Program, you don’t have to wait for the automatic push. You can pull the update manually by following these steps on your watch:
-
Open the Menu.
-
Select System.
-
Scroll to Software Update.
-
Select Check For Updates.
Given how comprehensive this changelog is, it’s a great time to update and get a head start on the features that will soon be the standard for all Instinct 3 and Crossover users.
