Garmin just launched a fresh beta software update for its latest high-end smartwatches. Owners of the Fenix 8, Fenix 8 Pro, Fenix E, Quatix 8, and Enduro 3 can now download version 23.13 to patch up several annoying system bugs. This new update focuses entirely on making the user experience smoother, fixing everything from sudden volume spikes to unexpected system crashes during workouts.
Note: The Beta software available for the Fenix 8 series will have the ECG feature and Dive features Disabled.
Big Fixes for Audio and Sudden Volume Spikes

A large chunk of this update addresses how the watches handle sound through speakers and connected headphones. Many users noticed that their music volume would randomly blast or drop out of nowhere. Specifically, Garmin fixed a glitch where music volume would suddenly increase right after an alarm goes off. They also patched an issue where music would incorrectly play over incoming spectator messages instead of letting them through cleanly.
The software team also sorted out a couple of other frustrating audio bugs. They fixed an issue where the actual volume of a watch alert would fail to match your chosen alert volume setting. They also repaired a glitch where headphone playback volume would incorrectly shift whenever your focus mode changed, and solved a native bug that prevented users from properly adjusting alarm volume levels.
Gym Crashes and Accidental Screen Taps Fixed
For the adventurous crowd, Garmin squashed a frustrating bug that caused the watches to completely crash and shut down right in the middle of indoor climbing activities. This fix ensures your workout data won’t be lost halfway up a wall.
Additionally, water sports enthusiasts get a helpful fix for their screens. Previously, the touchscreen would accidentally stay turned on during water sports if a custom focus mode was running. This update turns touch off properly so water drops do not cause accidental screen taps while you are swimming or paddling.
Minor Tweaks and How to Get the Update Right Now
The release wraps up with a few other minor unnamed system fixes under the hood, alongside routine translation updates to keep regional languages looking accurate across the device menus.
While Garmin updates usually roll out automatically over time, you do not have to wait for this beta. You can grab it manually right from your wrist today. Open the Main Menu on your watch, head to Settings, select System, tap Software Update, and then choose Check For Updates to download version 23.13 immediately.
