Garmin releases fresh beta update 32.16 for Edge 1050, 850, 550, and MTB: What’s new?

Garmin has started releasing a new beta software update, version 32.16, for several of its popular bike computers. The update targets the Edge 1050, 850, 550, and Edge MTB models, bringing a handful of useful fixes to improve performance on the trail and the road.

What Is Fixed in Version 32.16

  • Fixed provisional finish point showing wrong time trimmed
  • Fixed some tones not playing
  • Fixed issue with time in gear not accumulating with Di2 system
  • Fixed incorrect VirtualPartner position on ClimbPro graph
  • Improved device stability and addressed various minor bugs

This patch focuses mostly on small glitches that riders have been running into lately. First, Garmin fixed a bug where the provisional finish point displayed the wrong trimmed time. They also resolved an issue with missing audio alerts, ensuring all tones now play correctly during a ride.

For cyclists using Shimano Di2 electronic shifting, the update solves a frustrating bug that stopped the device from tracking your time spent in specific gears. Additionally, the Virtual Partner icon will no longer display in the wrong spot on ClimbPro elevation graphs. Overall system stability has also been bumped up, fixing several minor background bugs.

How to Get the Update

Installing the update on your device is quick and straightforward. First, make sure your Garmin Edge is connected to a Wi-Fi network. From there, open the Main Menu on your device, tap System, head into About, and choose Check For Updates to start the download.
